OUR PROCESS

  • Our initial consultation is 1-2 hours at your site where we will give you our best off-the-cuff ideas. This is also a really great way for all of us to see if we are a good match. After all, a remodel or a new build is not for the squeamish! We should all be on the same page, philosophically. A consultation is an outstanding value, especially if you are in the beginning stages of design.

  • Designology doesn’t have a style that we are known for. We can “do” any style. But what that style is, is entirely up to you. As we approach your home’s design, we will have in depth conversations with you to determine such things as how you want your home to feel; what you want your space to say about you; how the finished product will function; as well as your dreams, needs, and desires for the final outcome. We will help you resolve your style if you don’t know it. Once determined, Designology will establish a Design Concept. This is a series of parameters through which design decisions will be made. Past examples of Design Concepts are: Cowgirl Haute Couture; Axial Circulation within a Swiss Cross Motif; and The Patterns, Colors, and Music, of the ‘70’s. Every project is different. Every project has its own personality. Every project has its own Design Concept.

  • Using the Design Concept, Designology will get to work preparing layouts and floor plans that are guided by the concept, program, and ideas pulled from our previous exchanges. As opposed to architects, other designers, or interior decorators, Designology considers things like views, site lines within the home, adjacency relationships, daylighting principles, and so forth. Our outcomes are more creative and more comprehensive than our competition. Once floor plans are determined, we set to work producing a full set of very detailed Construction Documents (CD’s.) These documents are used by your builder or contractor to construct your final space. We are often told by our contractors that our CD’s are the best in the business for thoroughness and readability. Concurrently, we will be working with you to select all finishes and furniture, fixtures, and equipment, for the entire project. These will be given to your builder in the form of schedules that easily allows them to do material take-offs for accurate bidding and ordering of materials.

  • While Designology cannot act as project managers, we can assure that the contractor or builder is adhering to the design intent. We act as your advocate on the jobsite. We are available throughout every stage of the build to ensure that any questions or challenges that arise are taken care of in a timely and collaborative manner.

  • When the last tile is set and the last light switch installed, we set to work installing the fabulous furnishings and fixtures we have selected for you. This is Install Day (OR Install Week, depending on the scope.) We ask that you be gone during this process. Because, at the end, it is just like TV show reveals. You come into your newly transformed space and trust us, it is magical. When you can finally see what we’ve seen all along, it is usually mind blowing. There are frequently tears (of joy!) and lots of laughs and smiles. Install Day is what we live for.
